Halloween Costume party with La Chichada and Friends on Oct 29th at J&O's Cantina in San Antonio! The Ghost Tracks acoustic duo and Daves Device join us for a musical party Saturday night before Halloween. And there's a $50 prize for best costume!
West Kings Highway will be back in full swing for our Friday nights at Sancho's in San Antonio when I return in a couple of weeks.
The Solo Sax Sessions is at the Portneuf Grill at the Riverside Inn in Lava Hot Springs, ID tonight, at the Anchor Bistro in Twin Falls, ID tomorrow, and at the Emerald of Siam in Tri-Cities, WA on Saturday.

Miles Ahead - Miles Post 1 - This was my first professional recording. It features six original tunes and received a fair amount of West Coast airplay. I was thrilled the first time I heard my tune "Smoke This" on KMHD in Portland, OR. Ah....who am I kidding, I get thrilled everytime I hear my music on the radio. It was made even better when I heard it syndicated on KLON out of Long Beach where that song was in low rotation on Payal Kumar's "Soul Jazz" program. This album featured Gordon Neal Herman on keys, Alex Newton on guitar, James Ormond on bass and Rick Maier on guitar. I ended up doing some other recordings with Rick and various musical activites with James and Rick over the years. This music is still good!
My solo release - Duos & Trios This was a follow up to my debut recording, Live at Biddy McGraw's. I was going for short pieces of small combos on this concept record. I had a number of jazz musicians I was working quite a bit with in the NW who were all featured on this recording: Jay Stapleton on guitar, the late, great Janice Scroggins on keys, and Dennis Caiazza and Dave Captein on bass. This 14 track recording was produced by my mentor and friend, the late Jeffrey Dawkins of the acoustic blues band, "Back Porch Blues." The recording features a couple of originals from myself and Jay Stapleton, including the co-written ditty "A Sweet Piece of Candy," which I used as a theme song for my TV Show "Portland Culture" and my radio show "NW Jazz & More!" on KPSU. There's a haunting soprano sax and guitar duet of the Neil Young song, "Sugar Mountain," a classic, unusual, and lovely duet of soprano sax and bass on the Hoagy Carmichael standard "Georgia," and the album wraps up with a moving rendition of "America the Beautiful" courtesy of the graceful touch and tremendous skills of Janice Scroggins. While not my personal favorite on the recording, I have gotten a lot of favorable comments of our rendition of Harlem Nocturne.
