musings.....

Aging in the music biz.  Some days the appeal of 9 to 5....  not many days, but some days.   I'm finding I'm very okay with playing less.  There's things I'm just not interested in doing anymore.   I think my time being a talent buyer has affected this.

I enjoy hiring bands.  I love to give gigs to people.  I know they all need it, I know they all love it, I know they are all grateful for it... no matter what happens between hiring and load-out, these things are true.  I love being the guy that pays musicians. It's awesome.  Sometimes I get to pay them proper.  Sometimes not...   Either way, I'm still happy to be the guy that says I wanna pay you to make music. Anyway.... I'm at a point in my season right now that I'm looking for and hiring a mildly significant amount of talent.   It's more work than you think.  I know what I'm trying to deliver. A quality experience.

Things I think about when I'm booking talent - - professionalism, appeal, logistics, ability-to-actually-do-the-gig (this is a very real thing), appropriateness, budget, and bonus (band promo, social media, cache, media use, fans, etc...).  These things matter. And the more these things are together, it's almost always how much better the band is on stage. Cuz adults.

Been doing some recording which I'm enjoying.  Working on getting some new content out.  Gotta anther CD that's getting low on inventory; aka getting into the "sold out" zone.  #lovethat     Thinking about pressing some jams of the new show....  we'll see.  Not ready to make decision on that yet.

GrooveTronX is going to do it's first show since Johnny's hand surgery.  That'll be in two days.
